MegaGames Review: Are These Trainers Any Good?
Megagames, much like some other old-school trainer sites (See our GameCopyWorld Review), feels like it's been around forever. The website was founded in 1998 and has long shared game trainers, along with game mods, cheats, patches and more. This is one of those old school PC gaming sites that existed before we had automatic updating through services like Steam, back when you had to download patches off of a file-sharing website. And where you might find game mods before they were centralized in places like NexusMods.
Here's the question though. Is MegaGames any good for trainers? Is it worth using as your go-to source for game cheats?
What Are MegaGame's Trainers?
When you visit MegaGames you'll be able to find their available trainers under the 'Trainers' tab of their website. It's a blog type layout, so each newly updated trainer has its' own listing. If you need to find the latest trainer they've shared for a particular game, you can use the search function to look up all the cheats they have listed.
We were disappointed to see they don't have that many newly updated trainers being posted on their site anymore, possibly due to the amount of work it is to keep uploading the newest cheats. Most of the new trainers were from 'FLiNG', who if you want his trainers specifically can be found at his website, https://flingtrainer.com/.
So it doesn't leave a whole lot of reason to use MegaGames for their trainers when they don't offer anything special on their site that can't easily be found elsewhere.

We also noticed that even the cheat pages on MegaGames often don't have much information about the trainer itself, only a download button and rating. So you don't know what features the cheat even has until you download it. This leaves out of contention for being one of the best trainer websites.

Is MegaGames Safe?
There isn't any reason to believe a long-standing website like this is trying to infect any of its visitors with any kind of virus or spyware when downloading trainers or other files from their site, but that also doesn't mean that the files they share are necessarily always 100% safe.
Most of the files that MegaGames is uploading are coming from 3rd parties, so trainer developers, modders, and other content creators. MegaGames has no way to verify that those files which they are uploading to their site for others to download don't contain viruses.
Even if they scan the files themselves, new keyloggers or RATs can bypass anti-virus scans when those tools haven't yet added definitions to detect them. So you are putting your PC at risk when you download one of these free trainers, even though MegaGames is likely doing their due diligence to keep their visitors safe.

Ease Of Use
Overall the site is quick to load and fast to use. It's not hard to search for trainers through the search function, but the lack of description of some of the trainers is frustrating. It's also annoying that often times the newest trainers aren't first in the list when you search. You often see old, out of date trainers first, along with other files and pages that aren't what you're looking for
Quality Of Cheats
These are all publicly available free trainers that are being shared on MegaGames. So many of them are good, but don't necessarily have the same quantity and quality of features as premium cheats like CheatHappens. You'll find the basic features like 'God Mode', 'Unlimited Ammo', or 'Unlimited Money', but often not some of the more fun features like character stats editors, physics cheats, teleporting, or modifying the game speed.
Safety
We already covered whether their cheats were safe above, but we wanted to summarize our thoughts. First off, all the trainers we downloaded from Megagames came back clean in our anti-virus scans, but there's always a risk that you could get infected by downloading a file from their site that wasn't yet being detected as a virus. We would say that downloading from their site is much safer than downloading random trainer files you find on Youtube or file sharing sites, but not as safe as a a trusted trainer provider, or getting your cheats through a secure trainer manager.
Value
MegaGames doesn't charge any membership fee for their site, all their trainers are free, so they get a good rating for their value. You may find the ads on their site that they use to make money distracting.
Our MegaGames Conclusion
While they may be a decent choice if you're just downloading your first trainer and aren't worried about trusting the files you are running on your PC, for someone looking for a quality trainer provider they don't make the cut.
