Wii’s Lost Winds coming soon

The download only Wii platformer is coming on a gust of wind to an iOS device near you sometime this year…

In an interview with Eurogamer, David Braben from Frontier Developments has revealed they will be bringing Lost Winds to iPad, and iPhone.

The Wii game – which I loved but was ‘lost’ within the terrible online shopping experience of the Wii – saw you take on the role of a young villager (Toku), who through his control of the wind must save his homeland from the vengeful elemental Balasar with guidance from the wind elemental Enril. In the Wii edition you used the wii-mote to draw directional paths on-screen that control the wind. This can be used to enhance Toku’s jumps, defeat or immobilize enemies, and solve puzzles. In the iOS version you will be able to move Toku with a virtual stick, while wind control will be touch/gesture based

Great news. This was easily 1 of the best wiiware titles ever made and as with World of Goo should translate brilliantly to the touch screen. I just hope it does well so that they can bring over the sequel too.

    Totally agree .
This will work brilliantly on a touch screen , the wii shop experience is not at all good (not hating on the wii, just the shop) and lost winds was fantastic :)

I love lostwinds, but that almost certainly isn’t iPhone or iPad gameplay. The fact that the cursor is mainly onscreen most of the time and that it’s an old video shows that it’s being played on the wii.

we know it’s Wii footage. I never said otherwise!
