Finally, a game that lets you put your mad texting skills to good use!
Everyone’s doing it, from young to old. Some people do while they’re walking, some do it while they’re driving, others do it while walking through traffic. TxT Fighter is an arcade fighting game where your texting skills do the dirty work. I suppose that those who suck at texting could also use it as a tool to improve their touch screen typing abilities as well.
You choose one of six characters, each with his/her own skills and weaknesses. You have a health bar and a special bar that slowly goes up based on the moves you choose. How do you perform those moves? By typing words. Essentially, both a long and short word will appear on the screen. Shorter moves cause your character to perform quicker, less damaging moves, with the longer words performing better moves. For every letter you misstype, the damage of the move goes goes down a bit.
When your special bar gets high enough you can perform either an offensive or defensive specials move. These vary depending on the character, and so far seem pretty creative. You have to type a shadowed out, and more complicated, word in order to pull one of these off. You can see an example of the combat and special moves in the video below.
With Bluetooth multiplayer, this seems like a fun pick-up-and-play title for texters on the go. 5 Elements has promised a deep arcade story mode with different arcs for the different characters, as well as plenty of unlockables and achievements. The game comes out on December 9th, and we’ll have a review up soon after for those interested.
