The creators of Inotia, Crazy Hot Dogs, and Trapped have hit another one out of the park. Not only does com2us currently have one of the best baseball games out in the App Store (9 innings) but they are also coming out with a totally new, native baseball game for the iPhone in about a week. We have video and images to show you, and to celebrate we are giving away some 9 innings codes. Read on for details!

Those who caught our GDC coverage on the podcast will remember me gushing about Baseball Slugger. This game was one of the few games at the show that really stood out for me. Take a look at some of the features:

  • Tilt control hitting, move the phone to aim your hitting area
  • ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!
  • Special balls in multiplayer mode to help defeat your enemy, like and iron ball.
  • Amazing polish for an iPhone game including 3D camera and awesome effects.
  • Cool customizable characters
  • Branded baseball equipment for brand name bats and other equipment
  • Virtual item store coming with iPhone 3.0

Since seeing it in action at GDC I have been very excited to see this title. Check out the video and graphics below:

Baseball Slugger is scheduled to come out the first week of May, look here for a review when it comes out.

While you wait, I reccomend taking a look at 9 innings. The game is a seriously fun baseball game. I have spent many hours in season mode, and homerun mode. Currently it’s sitting on my favorite games page. Check out the resources:

My fondest memory with baseball was when I was at a Red Sox - Yankees game at Fenway park (GO SOX! :D). Anyway, I ALMOST caught a ball hit by Manny (when he was still on the team, of course) but the best part was chanting all the “Boo” chants towards the Yankees. Oh… and the Sox won!

I played little league baseball for only one season when I was about 8. I was so scared of getting hit by a pitch that I stepped out of the batters box most of the time and struck out. But in the last game of the season I got up the nerve to stand in and swing … and … I hit a triple! Yeah, I could have been good!

I love baseball game looks good!

My favorite memory was from a game I went to,

I am a huge Yankee fan for over 20 years I went to game 7 of the ALCS at Yankee Stadium against the hated Red Sox and saw perhaps the best baseball game ever played!

And Im not saying that just cause I was there I wont give all the details but it ended up being a great comeback win we were done 4-0 early facing Pedro Martinez they came back to tie it up late in the game and kick Pedro out of the game it was epic already but then Aaron Boone hit a walk-off HR in extra innings to win the AL championship. Epic!

Of course it all ended losing WS and blowing a 3-0 lead to the Sox the next year but I still cherish the memory of this game.

I remember when I was 15. And got cut from my schools baseball team. The next day i fell on my arm chasing a friend. I was then able to throw the ball at incredible speeds. Actually i think thats loosly based on the movie Rookie of the Year. I guess i never really played baseball. I like baseball video games though. Thank you all for your time.

I live in Sweden, what is this baseball thing? I remember having NBC way back as a student and when I came home from partying I always watched baseball to lull me to sleep. So I am guessing that baseball is some kind of sleeping aid.

    Favourite Baseball Memory -
it was the year 2009.(yes it was this year!). Our P.E teacher at school decided to make the class play a game of baseball. my intial thoughts were - “what the F is baseball?” :?:
But once i learned the game i quite enjoyed it!
it was also the first (and last) day i ever hit a home run. (the feeling was overwhelming) Ofcourse after the home run i got signed into the baseball team!

Disclamer: Some aspects of this story mayebe a bit untrue!!
Disclamer 2: it is possible for all aspects of the story to be untrue!

When I was younger, I always spent 1 day a year at Shea Stadium in the picnic box at my mothers company picnic. I would always eat my fill of hotdogs, hamburgers and ice cream, then go get signatures on my baseball glove from players as they walked in and out of the locker rooms from the bleachers. One year as I was reaching down, I fell over the railing and onto the concrete walkway, breaking my arm. One of the players picked me up and took me to the infirmary as my mother followed. I was really young so I was balling my eyes out and the player made me feel better, but I never knew who it was and I always wanted to thank him because he left right after.

I’m from Denmark, and I don’t even know the rules in baseball (lol!), but it looks awesome.
For some time ago me and my little brother played Wii Sports (lol!).
We started the Baseball game and played for some time. Suddenly I hit the ball great and the ball flew out of the stadium :O

    It’s a kinda baseball memory :D

I grew up loving baseball and going to Orioles, Rangers, and Astros games.

My fondest memory was going to the Ballpark in Arlington see the Rangers play and getting to see Kenny Rogers (the baseball player, not the singer) pitch a perfect game in July of 1994. It was actually quite a boring game, but it was cool to say that I was there. I’ll never forget how the crowd exploded after the final out was made. It may have been more entertaining to see the singer Kenny Rogers (aka The Gambler) pitch the game though.

my favorite memeorie is from the 1988 world series game 1 when the dodgers where down and a head coach tommy lasorda pull dave anderson and replaced him with a hobbled kirk gibson who stepped to the plate and hit a game winning homer.

I was playing wii sports one day at a carnival and I was creaming everyone at baseball. Well a professional recruiter comes up and plays against me and I win. Well he says I should try playing baseball for real so I go out to the flied at the school nearby. I started off pitching and was throwing 93 mph fastballs. I thought things were going well until I lost aim and the ball nailed the recruiter in the head. I went over to help him and tripped and fell on his face, breaking his nose. Needless to say I did not get the pro contract I wanted. I did get a piece of paper though, a restraining order.

I was so excited. I was 8 years old and was going to get to see my baseball hero live and up close–a young boy’s dream was going to come true. I went with my dad to a large office building and hung out in the lobby while he handled his meeting. I was so excited I couldn’t stand it.

After about 30 minutes a large man approached me and asked who I was and said something like, “Are you being dad’s helper today?” I immediately said, without any control, “I’m going to see George Brett today.”

“You are?” said the large man, “Are you going to meet him?”

“No, I’m just going to the game–but he is my favorite player and I’ve never been to his baseball field before.”

The large man paused for a few moments, smiled and bent his knees down so that his face was level to mine and after a second or so said, “How would you like to meet him and maybe even throw the ball around with him?”

I couldn’t believe it, I was standing there in disbelief at the thought of actually getting to toss the ball around with the great George Brett. I began to shake from lifting my heels off the ground over and over like a sort of half jump and said, “I would give anything. Do you know him?”

“Turns out I do,” he said, “he is my nephew and I happen to have some dugout passes and I would love it if a young boy like yourself could get to meet his favorite player.”

He then slowly pulled out two large pieces of strong paper that said “dugout pass”

Not only was I going to get to go into the dugout, but I was also going to sit on the first row of seats right behind the dugout during the game! I have never been so thrilled. This was truly one of the best experiences of my life.

My very first visit to a major league ballpark was in ‘77 to see the Mets vs. the Cardinals and a complete game 4-0 shutout by Tom Terrific (that’s Tom Seaver to the uninitiated). John Milner and John Stearns hit home runs for the Mets and the Mets didn’t win much in those years so you can imagine our excitement. I was 12 (well, almost 13) at the time so I would have been excited just to be there but Seaver pitching made it just that much better.
