Illusion Labs, the creators of Touchgrind and Labyrinth have revealed trailer for Touchgrind BMX.
The original Touchgrind, based on skating, was impressive from a technical standpoint allowing you to effectively play tech-deck on your iPad screen in a top-down sandbox environment. From the trailer below you will se that Touchgrind BMX has moved into full third-person 3D, but without the person. One of my gripes with the original was the inability to see far in front of you, something this new camera angle will no doubt fix.
Like its older sibling, the game employs pure multi-touch to pull off the tricks and motions. And looks to utilise two fingers with one pivoting around the other to turn the BMX left and right, and various flicks and pinches to pull off the stunts, such as endos, pogos, steamrollers and bar hops.
Whether the game will be a straight-up sandbox experience like before, or add in racing and competitions, is unclear. However, you will be able to unlock different bikes, including a girly looking tricycle and various locations such as BMX parks, dirt tracks and more public areas such as the pier shown in the trailer.
We assume, like the first, the game will be available for both iPhone and iPad, however the trailer only shows the iPhone version. Either way it looks graphically impressive with detailed environments, a smooth frame-rate and long draw distances.
A great feature that will no-doubt boost replay-abilty and bragging rights among gamers is the replay record feature, which lets you save your best trick runs and upload them to Youtube for all to see.
Touchgrind BMX is due for release this Spring. Look out for more info as it hits.
