TouchDown – November 21 – 28

A look back at some of the highlights from the last week in iOS gaming…

Gameloft launches ‘NFL Pro 2012′

As expected, Gameloft has released another intalment of their ‘NFL Pro’ franchise for iOS.  It’s very similar to previous years with over 2000 players, 200 plays to master, new animations and new controls.

There’s also an NFL RSS feed to keep you up-to-date with the latest in the sport.  I’m not a fan of American football, but if you enjoy NFL Pro 2011, I can guarantee that you’ll love this updated version.

A bunch of your friends have pulled a nasty prank on you while you were sleeping – they strapped a jetpack to your back and fired you off in the night.  Oh, and you’re a worm in this new arcade game, ‘Worms Party’.

The aim is to score the highest by tapping either the top or the bottom of your screen in order to fly in the sky or underground.  Avoid obstacles, complete missions and unlock new engines in this budget-priced app.

mzlsmbbrghe320x480-751Action puzzler ‘Saving Yello’ is now available

‘Heavy MACH: Defense’ climbs the charts

mzlwqfmuwaf320x480-751With 3.5 million users worldwide, WeMade’s third instalment in their ‘Heavy MACH’ franchise has exploded up the charts.  The hard-hitting game has ranked #21 overall, which may not sound as amazing as #14 in Games, #5 in the Action category and #1 in the Strategy category.

Heavy MACH: Defense features 70 different stages, hundreds of new upgraded units from the original Heavy Mach, bigger and badder special attacks, diversified game play with MACHs, turrets, and cool special abilities.  You can also build your own army of MACHs as you make your way through the extensive campaign.  If you’re a fan of strategic games, this title should be your next purchase.

mzlgiubcwzd320x480-75Namco updates ‘Katamari Amore’ and ‘Toss the Ball’

NAMCO has added another pack to Katamari Amore, titled ‘Rolling Whopper’.  It includes 6 additional stages, a Galaga-themed stage and 4 playable modes – Story, Time Trail, Exact Size Challenge and Eternal.  This doesn’t include the other 3 packs which are also available as in-app purchases.

The studio has also updated their carnival-based game ‘Toss the Ball’ with an extra level available for free.  It’s not a very notable update, but it does double the number of boards available to play with.  If you want the full deal – with 4 modes, 5 boards, 12 unique balls and multiplayer – you’ll have to fetch $0.99.  Until then, it’s available as a freemium title.
