Broken Sword: The Director’s Cut – out now

Revolution Software has released Broken Sword: The Director’s Cut on the AppStore for $6.99.

Developed specifically for iPhone and iPod touch, Broken Sword: The Director’s Cut is an update of the classic adventure which introduced George Stobbard, Nico Collard and the conspiracy of the Knights Templar.

“I am very proud that the game, and indeed the whole series, has maintained such a loyal following,” says Charles Cecil, managing director of Revolution Software. “Since the launch of iPhone we have been bombarded with requests from fans to produce an app and the innovative Multi-Touch user interface is perfect for an adventure game – it really works very well.”

Many of you point and click adventure fans will be twitching with glee at this news. The Director’s Cut benefits from the introduction of new cut-scenes and animations from celebrated comic book artist Dave Gibbons. A context-sensitive help system offers a range of in-game hints for those stumped by the game’s ingenious puzzles. And it utilises an improved version of the widely-praised control mechanism premiered in Beneath a Steel Sky – Remastered (reviewed by us here). last but not least, it includes approximately 20 per cent to the total play time of the original game.

    I loved Steel Sky, especially for the control scheme which this game shares, I believe, as well as Dave Gibbons’ art, apparently.

    This looks really promising, but I’m going to wait for your review at TouchGen. You are going to write one here for it, right?
