Our friends at 148Apps sent us news that THQ will be bringing to iPhone a Star Wars Tower Defense game based on the battle of Hoth.
Developed by Fluffy Logic, the game takes place during the AT-AT attack on the rebel base on Hoth. What with it being the 30th anniversary this year of The Empire Strikes Back, it makes perfect sense to base it during that battle. You take control of the rebel forces, defending the shield generators from the Empire. Played over 15 levels in two modes, ‘Classic mode’ and ‘Fortress mode’, you start out with a set amount of credits called ‘Command Points’ which you spend to upgrade your units in areas such as attack range and damage. Units, including Soldiers, Ion cannon’s, Snow speeders and X-wings, can be directed to target ground enemies or air enemies, and both weaker or stronger ones. Of course, in any Tower Defense game its all about shepherding the enemy into your kill zones, which you can do by digging trenches in the snow. You must stop the imperial forces from reaching the shield generators, or you’ll fail. If you are victorious you can play again in fortress mode, which gives you more command points to start with, but no more are available after that, playing for score only.
The game’s release is imminent, so look out for it on the AppStore any day now. Check out the screens below.
