Star Trek Game hits the App Store

EA brings the mobile movie game to the App Store.

EA just released Star Trek: The Mobile Game to the App Store today. I decided to go ahead and pick it up so I have something to do while waiting at the premier tonight. Much to my surprise, it’s a very slick and viable top down space shooter game, not unlike 1942, or the recently released Siberian Strike!

The visuals are great, as is the sound and music, which features some of the original movie score. I’ve only played a couple missions, but have already unlocked an achievement and upgraded my ship. Each mission has secondary objectives you can complete, which will earn you “stars” to spend on upgrades. I’ll probably review this game in the near future, but before then I can definitely tell you that Star Trek is looking good!

i’m not sure wether the game will live up to the standards of the movie.

haha from what I’ve played I doubt that was the intention of the game. ;)

I gave it a “men” on the app store especially after seeing what gameloft had done with terminator you think they would have wanted to maximize profits from a property like star trek but no it’s a run of the mill shmup unlike syberian strike which was mentioned in the same post and which is far superior and more worthy of your cash guys.

I’m not a dev sneakin onto the boards lookin to snub one game for another just a guy from Glasgow who spent some of my hard earned on both games and giving you my honest opinion on which is better.

Oh and I’m a star trek fan and hoped that this would be great shame it wasn’t.

I dunno, I’ve had some good fun so far. Definitely can’t say it’s as good as Siberian Strike, but it’s certainly got some good production quality about it. :)

That’s true you can see there has been some love put into it but not enoughand in the end production quality doesn’t make up for gameplay and it just seems clunky, as in some other vertical shooters too the “sprites” are a little too big for the screen and take up too much space.
It just seems like a rush job to me to make it out at the last minute to cash In On the film so as usual us gamers are taken for a ride by the man.
Better stop there talkin bout men again LOL
