The Speck Fitted for the iPad is a design I have been awaiting eagerly. The iPhone version was brilliant, and an iPad version was inevitable. Once it arrived it managed to exceed even my high expectations.
The Fitted is a two-piece hard cover with fabric stretched across the back. The two pieces are easy to put together, and stick together really hard. This is the kind of case you put on, and use for months at a time. Taking it off is quite easy though. The case protects the entire back, sides, and edges of the screen. All functions are still accessible, and the cutouts are really well made with soft fluid corners. The only thing that is somewhat disorienting is the fact that the headphone + light sensor cutout is larger than the silent/off button. Usually it is the other way around, and at times I have found myself trying to find the off button at the headphone jack. The case is not dockable at all even though the cutout at the bottom is large.
As a protective case the Fitted is really good offering good impact protection. I still think that there is a need to get a good screen film as well, and so far the Speck ShieldView is the best alternative.
The design overall is beautiful and sleek. The biggest improvement when compared to the smaller iPhone version is that the fabric has been improved, and shows no sign of wear at all after weeks of usage. No loose threads, no fuss to clean up. This is great, and now the Fitted has become the best hard case cover for the iPad. There aren’t that many hard cases out there for the iPad yet, and the only real competition is the upcoming cases by Otterbox.
The Fitted for iPad is a great case, and with five classic patterns to choose from you should be able to find one that suits you. I got to try the Fadeway Gray/Black/Pink, and it looks amazing. If you are looking for a classy case offering good protection definitely consider getting the Fitted.
