There are many maze games out for the iPhone. So much, that it almost makes me want to make a new category on the site. Hmmm… well, either way, you’ll certainly feel “trapped” by this one, and that’s not necessarily a good thing.

Unfortunately, it doesn't get much more exciting than this.

Unfortunately, it doesn't get much more exciting than this.

Space trap is a simple game, that has you navigating mazes that contain doorways (or “trap doors”) that are on hinges. These doors only open in a certain direction. You play as a cool little propellor spinny guy (that’s not an official name… I don’t think), and must navigate through these to reach the end of the maze. The main problem with this, is that it’s really not that fun. I mean, the game looks alright, and the music is fine, but the game can get frustrating very quickly, and isn’t very rewarding. To make matters worse, you can’t save in the middle of a level, as the game only lets you load the entire level you were last playing. And the controls… I’ll touch on them below. Tsk tsk.

Presentation and Graphics:

Good looking game, with a nice option to pinch to zoom.

Descent music. Very little sound effects.

It’s sad to say, but this game just isn’t very much fun. The touch controls are horrible slow and unresponsive, with no way to tap and hold to move. The motion controls are better, but still slow. No ability to save mid-level. Really?

Gamelife:

Because the levels get difficult pretty quickly, you probably have this game for a while. Lacks online leader boards, unlockables, achievements, different game modes, or anything else to make it more interesting.

Game Rating

A mediocre game. Perhaps with more refined controls, and the ability to save mid-level, this game would be much more appealing. That, and more variety to gameplay. It’s only 99 cents though, so if you’re looking for a challenging and cheap game to occupy your time, it may be worth your look.
