Snooker sale

To mark the start of the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible in Sheffield, UK… Big Head Games have dropped the price of International Snooker to the bargain price of 59p/99c/0.79Eu.

We reviewed the game back in January and found it to be a great portable version of the classic game of snooker. It’s certainly worth the sale price! Check out our review here.

As always that pisses me off, asked the developer if they had plans to lower the price and got the answer “no”. Look and behold I get cheated when it drops to 99cents. Well another dev to put on the growing list of devs that screwed me over and that I won´t buy stuff from again. Crap as I really liked this game.

Do you walk into music stores and complain when they discount a CD? What about a console game? a DVD? a Book? Cars? Do you really expect people to hold their prices at what you paid for it?
Every man and his dog does a sale on iPhone when their games start to drop out of the charts…be greatful you can buy quality games for less than $5 you can’t get any games, CDs, DVDs, anything at that price…that’s two coffees at Starbucks…Am.

I can see how that is annoying. unfortunately it’s not so much the devs fault, as the way the AppStore works. For some games, having sales is the only way to get visibility in a crowded market. That said I’d prefer it too if all devs set their price and stuck to it for the long term, and then drop the price permanently later in the games life cycle. I posted the story though, as the game is very good and didn’t want people who hadn’t purchased the game to miss out on the bargain price.

Yeah it is a really good game. And yeah record stores and game stores I no longer frequent due to them dropping prices without notice even though I have asked. No wonder there is piracy in the world is it. The customer is never right, neither in the real world nor in the app store.

The problem with sticking to a price in the app store is that its too hard to get noticed with thousands of games out there already and thousands coming, the market is way too crowded right now and while EVERY developer wishes they could keep their original retail price they dont because they dont get enough sales so they end up lowering it.

Then they finally get some sales and get noticed then other devs follow suit and so on that we see most games for only a buck or two now.

But its dumb to get mad at a dev for this the market is the way it is now not really their fault. You can either wait for a sale that may or may not come or just buy it cause you think you’ll like it and its worth the price.

And if you enjoyed it and think you got your $’s worth then dont complain about it going on sale later on be happy you gave a dev that put out a good game some extra dough.

I find it evens out anyway with all the games I do pick up on sale.

    /rant over lol

I watched loads of snooker when I was in Europe, but after coming back to the states I couldn’t find it on any of the sports stations. Will have to get this for nostalgia’s sake.
