We’ve had some readers asking for a review of Sim City, but unfortunately we didn’t receive a review copy of it until yesterday, so the review is going to take me a couple days because there is a lot of game there. To make sure I can give you all a proper review is going to take a little time. What I can do is give you some quick first impressions of the game based on about an hour of playtime with it. So, read on for that.
So I’ll say this, so far, the game is very good. It looks amazing and seems to suffer from no performance issues even with it’s highly rendered graphics. It offers all the depth you would come to expect from the PC games. It’s not like the old school basic SNES Sim City.
The only complaint I have with game is that when you are trying to precise things such as laying out roads and water lines your finger gets in the way and it can be kind of hard to make it exactly how you want it. However, they have come up with a great way to compensate for this. Nothing you lay out in finalised as you lay it, once you put it down it comes with special edit options, than when you are happy with it you click confirm and your done. While it adds an extra step to laying stuff down, it makes it so you don’t spend money you don’t need to laying down roads that aren’t wanted.
Overall, from what I’ve played so far the game is very good, and I’m having a good time with it. Expect a review this weekend, but just in case you absolutely can’t wait, I have no problem saying that any fan of Sim City, or simulation games in general, should buy this game.
