Shadowgun: Deadzone multiplayer revealed

Madfinger Games has revealed their plans to release a multiplayer-specific iteration of their popular shooter ‘SHADOWGUN’.

The original game received a huge update late last year, adding more levels, weapons, enemies and gameplay enhancements.  This addressed any complaints concerning the lack of content but there was still something missing – online multiplayer.

The studio have shown off SHADOWGUN: Deadzone at the Consumer Electronics Show this week running on NVIDIA Tegra 3-powered mobile devices.  Madfinger have kept the original controls intact but have added new elements such as sprint-and-roll, a wider arsenal, player ranking and voice chat.

SHADOWGUN: Deadzone will support up to 7 players in 4 different environments.  You can choose from 8 different characters and ‘several game modes’ – including deathmatch and team deathmatch (mutants vs. bounty hunters).  Unfortunately, you’ll only be able to play where your device can fetch WiFi, otherwise 3G is unsupported.

The game will be released in the first quarter of 2012 and will ‘exclusively debut on NVIDIA Tegra 3-powered mobile devices’.  It isn’t clear when SHADOWGUN: Deadzone will hit iOS.

Im fairly certain mad finger said the original game would get a multiplayer update …. This sounds as though they decided against that :( …..

I would prefer they updated to include multiplayer ,rather than bring out a whole new game.

Pocketgamer claims that it will be a separate app… Looks like the Shadowgun won’t be getting an update. I guess we will have to pay more for multiplayer. I feel sorry for those who paid 8dollars for the game :(

Yes, they did say it was going to be included in an update to the original, the main reason for me buying the game…

How typical. First they promised a multiplayer feature in an update then cancel it and release a whole new app with that feature. They just lost my respect for that dirty trick.

But hey, screw early adopters or any purchaser for that matter. All we care is our pocket!
