SafeFilm Radiation Reducing film review

The notion of safety when it comes to cell phones has not been up for debate lately. With more stronger networks for cellular and 3G/4G traffic the harmful radiation is lowered. On the other hand smart phones provide stronger protocols, and hardware for transferring and receiving information. The iPhone 4 is one of the strongest devices out there, and with the introduction of an even stronger iPhone 4S radiation might once more become something discussed in cafés, at the breakfast table and when the times come to selecting a new smart phone.

anti-radiation-6I have tried the Pong reduced radiation case for both the iPhone 3G/3GS, and the iPhone 4/4S. Those cases provide a chimney transference of cell phone radiation (SAR) found in rather bulky silicone capsules. The SafeFilm from Power Trend is a new solution to the radiation health hazard that comes in the shape of a plastic film for the back of the iPhone 4/4S.

Placing the SafeFilm on the backside of the phone is a simple procedure compared to getting a screen protector in place. Worth noting is that it is imperative to get the cut-out for the camera correctly aligned. If it is even a tenth of a millimetre off it will affect the flash when you take pictures. Once in place around the camera cut-out it is easy to squeeze out any bubbles. Before applying the film you need to use the lint free cloth to remove dust, and hair. If you have a lot of grime you can also use the dust removal sticker patch that is included in the package.

Once in place the film makes the back seem a bit lighter in colour, and this is due to the film being made from five layers. Upon close inspection the film is striped giving a cool high tech impression. The five layers help by adding scratch resistance, anti glare, grip, strength and finally radiation diversion.

The SafeFilm has been tested by CE and FCC Certified laboratories, and the numbers are really good. A 89% decrease in SAR exposure for the user, and a whopping 97% below the international safety limits. I have no way to test these numbers out, but if correct it is definitely something worth considering. Especially to those who don’t use headsets when talking, or to those who are younger than 18 years old in general.

Considering that the SafeFilm can be used with any other case it is a good option for those worried about SAR. It also gives the back of the phone some extra protection against bumps, and scratches. Power Trend is all about screen protection, and they have the experience and know-how to create durable film. In the end this is recommended to all those who are anxious about SAR.
