Firemint release the first in-game screenshots of Real Racing 2 in action…
[UPDATES AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST] Originally posted Novemeber 11. We just received an email from Australian games developer Firemint, of Flight Control and Real Racing fame. In it they simple teased us with a new Real Racing 2 logo and to stay tuned for more information. In the life of the iPhone and AppStore it seems an eternity since the first game was released. With Game Center soon to hit iPad, Firemint will be releasing a free update to Real Racing 1 with four player online racing added. Obviously this isn’t enough for Firemint, and we’ll no doubt see online play a much bigger feature in the sequel, along with a visual upgrade, more cars, tracks and possibly new events like off-road Rally and Formula One. But, as Firemint say in their email… “Stay Tuned!”
UPDATE 1
Firemint have confirmed that Real Racing 2 will feature real cars. The lack of licensed cars was the only thing holding the game back from being truly real. Below are screens showing a BMW Z4M and a Corvette C6R.
UPDATE 2
Firemint have now released a cinematic trailer (see below). It shows more licensed cars including: Ford Shelby Mustang GT500, Jaguar RSR XKR GT and the Nissan GT-R. I know its just a pre-rendered cinematic, but with real cars and no doubt full online multi-player out of the gate, RR2 is looking like the racer to watch!
UPDATE 3
A week after releasing the teaser trailer, Firemint have unleashed a gameplay trailer after many requests from gamers. The video shows a lap and replay of one of the new tracks, and behind the wheel of Nissan GT-R. New to this sequel is a mini map (something oddly missing from the first game), and more detail around the track to add realism. The game is due for release before christmas, so don’t forget to add this game to your letter to Santa… oh and be good!
UPDATE 4
Firemint just sent us these new screenshots of the game in action. Check them out:
