Starbyte released NEX this week, a first person ‘Alien’ inspired survival shooter.
The game sees you in charge of a commando squad taking on hordes of aliens within the confines of cramped corridors of ghostly spaceships. In our brief hands on with the game, the 3D runs nice and smooth, with the occasional frame drop here and there. The sound is used to great effect to create a tense atmosphere, especially with the HUD map, which in a nod to ‘Aliens’, has a scanner that shows the aliens whereabouts. They move pretty fast and the beep gets faster and faster as they near! Weapons include a standard laser, as well as a flame canister launcher which ignites the surrounding area in flames, for a nice alien barbi. NEX is out now for $4.99. We’ll have a full review soon, but in the meantime check out the developer walk-through below:

I hope this is a project to help someone get into Game Development. If not I’d have to use the word FAIL.
