Logitech Tablet Keyboard for iPad review

Writing on an iPad using the new Logitech Tablet Keyboard turns the iPad into a real competitor to both the desktop, and the laptop computers. It comes with a holster that doubles as a stand. Simply fold it out, insert the plastic prongs and you are set. The iPad/iPad 2 is then set at a 15 degree angle. If you use some kind of case that is fine, but the angle might be affected.

As a keyboard it works really well for actual typing. It is the same size as my iMac wireless keyboard, and almost as responsive when typing. What differs between the desktop keyboard, and the tablet keyboard are the function keys. The iPad/iPhone Home button can be found in the top left corner. It works like it should, and brings you to the home screen or to the spotlight screen.

log1The function key is versitaile, and can bring up the photo roll, remove the virtual keyboard, play music, and set volume. Paired with backspace it closes the iPad, and the same combination opens it smoothly. All these functions are easy to spot, as they are lined out in blue to the right above the ordinary number.

Setting up the keyboard is really simple with a requirement to enter four digits when you pair up with the iPad. Quick and hassle free. The four AAA batteries last for ages, but of course a rechargeable solution would have been preferred.

Carrying around the keyboard is easy due to the stand that doubles as a shell. It has to be carried the correct way otherwise the keyboard will fall out. A proper case for the keyboard would have been much more reliable. You can of course carry the keyboard without the stand. It is much the same size as the Apple Wireless keyboard.

log2Having a keyboard for the iPad really enhances the range of tasks it can do just as well as a laptop. Logitechs Tablet Keyboard doesn’t come with any fancy features other than being a sleek competitor to the Apple Wireless keyboard. It comes highly recommended to anyone who wants to do some actual writing on the go.
