Kroll has been released on the App store. The long awaited hack and slash game, developed by Digital Legends, and first shown at WWDC this year can now be picked up for a reasonable $7.99 (£4.99).
From our early hands on, we can say without a shadow of a doubt that Kroll is the best looking iPhone game out there. Featuring fantastic presentation and graphics that look like something more akin to graphics you would find on the PSP than a mobile device.

The action is mainly side-scrolling through 3D scenes, with you hacking slashing as you go, it’s mindless but fun. It also features Quick Time Events (QTE’s) in the Boss encounters. Similar to God of war, a QTE requires you to hit a symbol on screen at the right moment to trigger an attack. The animation, especially in the cut scenes, looks great and even the menu system, which comprises of illustrated pages of a book, look stunning. The musical score is filmic in quality, reminding me of the lord of the rings battle scores.
We have only played through the first level so far, so our opinions on the game play is still to be decided, so look for a review soon.
In the meantime, check out video which Pocket gamer have kindly posted on Youtube:
