Karting games have always been good business ever since Nintendo brought out Mario Kart on the SNES back in ‘92. So it makes sense that this genre would make its way to iPhone. From the beginning there was Cro Mag Rally, and then Crash Bandikoot racing. Both were good games, but since then it’s been a little quiet on the Karting front. In the last few days though we have heard news of not one, but two new karting games coming to iPhone.
First up is Krazy Kart Racing from Konami, in what looks to be a sequel of sorts of their Game Boy Advance game Krazy Racers. It features Konami characters from the likes of Dracula from Castlevania, Goemon from Mystical Ninja, Grey Fox from Metal Gear, the Easter island head from the Gradius games and that cute baseball character from Power Pros. Features 16 tracks across five modes of play including GP and Timetrail, as well as up to 6 player multiplayer, which reportedly will by online. Krazy Kart Racing should be in the AppStore any day now.
The second is Shrek Kart from Gameloft. Due in September the game features everyone’s favourite Ogre, including Donkey and Princess Fiona, battling it out across 15 tracks against CPU players as well as Wifi only multiplayer racing and battle modes.
So there you have it, two kart game coming very soon, that are both looking pretty good graphically and look to feature a varied amount of tracks and options. So which will be the best? Well as Harry Hill always says, “there’s only one way to find out…. Fight!”
