Hasbro reinvents laser tag with iPhone and iPod Touch implementation…
Before first person shooters really took off, I remember the best way to get all that early teenage aggression out of my system back in the day (apart from a scrap after school) was with a good old match of Laser Quest (or Laser Tag). Running around dark corriders, with plastic armour strapped to our chests and knee deep in dry ice was pretty awesome back in the 90s.
Well now you can re-live all the fun but with a modern 21st century twist. Hasbro has teamed their NERF range with our trusty iDevices. To experience the game, you’ll need a Lazer Tag Blaster, connect an iPhone or iPod Touch into the cradle slot and download the free Lazer Tag app from the AppStore. From there you will be able to play single or multi-player modes featuring either real life worlds or virtual opponents. Each Lazer Tag blaster equipped with a device has a virtual firing range of over 250 feet and contains a HUD, which allows you to keep track of your gear and remaining power, while also providing a view of the augmented reality targets and enemies in the area. A virtual leaderboard keeps track of your profile and, with every successful mission, you can gain in-game access to upgradeable attacks, missions and gear.
Look out for availability in August this year, for a price of $39.99 for a single blaster and $69.99 for a twin pack.
