UPDATE: EPIC’s Infinity Blade dungeon-crawler spinoff is on hold…
EPIC have announced they are closing Impossible Studios, the team responsible for the development of Infinity Blade Dungeons. Unfortunately for iOS gamers, that means that IBD has been put on hold until further notice.“We’re closing Impossible Studios. “When former members of Big Huge Games approached Epic last year, we saw the opportunity to help a great group of people while putting them to work on a project that needed a team. It was a bold initiative and the Impossible folks made a gallant effort, but ultimately it wasn’t working out for Epic. “In addition to providing Impossible Studios employees with 3 months of severance pay, we’ll be giving the team the opportunity to form a new company with the Impossible Studios name and the awesome Impossibear logo. “This means that Infinity Blade: Dungeons is now on hold as we figure out the future of the project.” Tim Sweeney, Founder, Epic Games

That’s according to AllThingsD. They recently spoke with Epic Games who claim that the logistics of setting up Impossible Studios (the developers of IB:Dungeons) and integrating even better ideas mean that the game will now come in 2013.
We got hands-on with the game back at E3 this year and it felt pretty polished and ready to go to us. But, we can’t complain that a game for iOS is getting the kind of treatment usually devoted to console games. Here’s to iPad 4 optimisations!
