Infinity Blade 2 preview – part 2: characters

In part 2 of our week of previews for Infinity Blade 2, releasing this December 1st, we look at some of the characters you will meet early on in the game…

Some parts of our preview may contain some spoilers, but we’ll try to keep these to a minimum, particular where story is concerned.

Part 2: Characters

isaIsa

A companion of sorts, and present in the opening scenes of Infinity Blade 2. Isa is a crossbow-wielding assassin and freedom fighter.

However, based on events in the first act of the game, it is unclear whether she really is a friend, or a foe!

shadeShade

A ninja-like assassin, and the first character you’ll meet in Infinity Blade 2. With one double-handed broad-sword, the Shade has a slower but more powerful attack, and swaps its shield for blocking ability.

kabukiKabuki

A skeletal martial artist with a large coolie hat. The Kabuki wields two samurai swords, and is the first example of the new dual wield fighting style in Infinity Blade 2. With no shield he/she utilises fast dodging over the usual defensive manoeuvres. Using back flips to avoid your-in coming attacks, and combining karate kicks with their sword strikes

roninRonin

A samurai-like character with a skull head-mask. He’s no doubt well versed in the ways of zen – based on his preferred surroundings by a koi pond and under a cherry blossom. Wielding the more traditional set up of a sword and shield, don’t let the pretty surroundings fool you, he’s a bad ass! And for his size he’s quick on his feet with fast sword attacks and counters with his long shield.

It is interesting to note that these first three battles highlight the three new fighting styles in Infinity Blade 2. More on fighting styles and weapons in our third preview.

bodyguardSaydhi’s Bodyguard

Your typical brute, and Saydhi’s right hand man. Like all the larger creatures you encounter, you should be on the look out for head-butts, foot stomps and other shield busting moves. His brute strength is his weakness, as his little brain prefers simple and slow attacks over defence, allowing for openings in between strikes for scratch attacks.

saydhiSaydhi

The first boss encounter in Infinity Blade 2. She’s a deathless, and keen to get hold of your shiny new Infinity Blade. In her over confidence, she agrees to impart information to help you on your quest, in return for a dual, with the thinking that the information is useless to a deadman. Time to put away your gentlemanly ways, because despite her feminine forms she’s a cold-hearted killer, and if the roles were reversed and you were done up in a pretty too-too, she wouldn’t think twice before taking your head!

Wielding a blade-ended staff, she’s quick on her feet, and well versed in magic. Look out for her fire attacks!

thaneThane

Minor spoiler alert! Thane is a High Lord living the highlife in a crumbling keep, and one of the first major bosses you’ll encounter after defeating Saydhi. It is here where you’ll discover more about yourself and your quest (no I’m not going to ruin the plot for you). He’s another powerful sword and shield wielder, much like Ronin, but like Saydhi he has magic at his disposal. If he’s not ramming or shield bashing you, look out for his magical ice projectiles

We’ve put together a video montage of some of the characters you will encounter come December 1st. Check it out:

Wow looks gorgeous. Thanks for the preview!

  • nizy

For anyone interested in the story and characters, the book that was realeased features Isa and Saydhi prominently. But from the looks of it, the most important things are retold in the game anyway. Really can’t wait for this!

  • herp

the only thing that bothers me is that Saydhi was killed by Sirius when he impaled her with the infinity blade instead of just a simple slash shown in the game.

  • Nigel Wood, UK

@herp… he does that too! :)

  • Hamza

  • NO BS

What hamza ???? name in every language means a raghead con artist, likes to hog oil reserves in every country especially asia, brainwash ppl to scummy muslim religion, and extort money through bullshit halal licensings.
