While most of the info at Apple’s event was as expected, one surprise was the announcement of Infinity Blade 2…
Infinity Blade was the first Unreal Engine 3 game for iOS, and at the time showed off what was possible on the iPhone 4 and iPad 1. It makes sense then, that when Apple wanted to show what the iPhone 4S’s A5 chip could do, they’d turn to EPIC games. Cue Mike Capps from EPIC to announce the Infinity Blade 2. The sequel builds upon the gameplay and ground breaking visuals of the original game with all new locations and more expansive environments. According to ChAIR, players will explore an evolving game world filled with new types of rewards and treasures, as they battle scores of new powerful enemies and bosses. New fighting styles and weapon classes will add more variation to the gameplay, as well as the addition of deeper RPG elements than before. The game will also include new online features, such as Clash Mob, in which you’ll participate with fellow gamers in unique challenges to unlock rare weapons and exclusive items.
“Infinity Blade allowed us to demonstrate the true potential of triple-A handheld gaming by delivering mind-blowing graphics and awesome gameplay to millions of mobile users,” said Donald Mustard, creative director, ChAIR Entertainment. “With Infinity Blade 2, we’re pushing the boundaries of everything achieved to date and adding a ton of new content and unique new features to create the must-have gaming experience on iOS.”
The game certainly looks to be pushing the series even further than before (particulary in the graphics department), and it looks like our hero will be wielding two swords, so lets hope for even better gameplay too! Infinity Blade 2 will hit on the 1st December 2011. Look out for more info on Infinity Blade 2 as it hits. In the meantime check out the screens and teaser trailer below:
