We like to report on all sorts of games, from established studios to bedroom developers. Here’s an upcoming Indie project that caught my eye…
The Pitch: Proton Boy is a 3D action shooter for the iPhone and iPad (think StarFox -like) where you must take control of the titular character and defend yourself from an alien invasion. Presented within large 3D arena-like levels, you will navigate hostile alien territory, while taking out defense installations, enemy ships including large capital ships. Controls are accelerometer based for maneuvering, while speed is set using a slide based throttle. Proton Boy comes armed with an anti-particle weapon, which is activated by tapping the screen. Power-ups to your weapons are awarded as you complete levels, as well as custom suits for Proton Boy, though it’s not know how these affect gameplay, if at all. In the current build there are seven worlds to explore, each with five levels and one boss fight, which equates to 42 levels in total.
The game is still in development, but expect it’s release soon. In the meantime check out the trailer below.
