Hysteria Project

press

Bulkypix’s team is proud to announce his first iPhone game “Hysteria Project”:

You start in an old cabane after been tied by a strange and frightening guy…

Your eyes are blurred, you feel your heart pulsing on forehead sides.

You see this strange logo everywhere around you and start to hear weird cries.

There is only one thing to do.. escape and stay alive!

Hysteria Project is a groundbreaking gaming experience, where you are the hero of an entirely filmed adventure. Go along with the video clips, keep a sharp eye on what’s going on around you and most importantly of all – make the right choices at the right time.

The best way to qualify this first episode is an interactive serie with quick-time events.

In Hysteria Project you feel really like if you are in the movie. We spent lot of time designing and tuning the sound design to increase the immersion of the player in the adventure. This episode is the pilot to pose the context, it’s the beginning of a long story where each episode will bring new innovative gameplays and features. We are going to listen to our players to add what they want to play in next episodes.

The whole story will reveal who you are, your involvement in the Hysteria Project and what is the meaning of this strange symbol you see everywhere.

Hysteria Project has been submitted and will be coming soon.

It’s approximately 30 to 40 minutes of gameplay for a low price $1.99.

Your game looks like it’s well directed and paced (and hopefully well written). I only ask: how often are you planning to release these episodes? Once every week? Two weeks? Every month or 3?

In my experience episodic games only work if they actually come out on time. Sam and Max, Half Life Episodes, and all those episodic Valve wanted to spark off a couple years ago through Steam, Xbox Live and PSN, were excellent IPs, but had problems simply because they couldn’t get out updates and on time.

My suggestion is that instead of releasing episode updates randomly like other games in the Appstore, you pick a reasonable timeframe that you think that you can release the episodes, make sure that your team can actually put them out on time (push the initial release date if you have to get breathing room if you have to) and then preview the next episode in the game/ appstore. Eg:

-You release Ep 1 on March 15th 2009 “Because You Left” and accrue sales. You post on your appstore page:
“Look forward to the next Hysteria episode update: “The Lie”. Stay tuned.”
    - Put this on your website and in the game as well

-Now you have two choices, either (a) include the date of the next episode within that same writeup, or (b) WAIT one week before the release of the next episode, and THEN post the release date.

“Look forward to the next Hysteria episode update: “The Lie”, live on April 15th, 2009. Stay tuned.”

The result should be a watercooler effect as folks prepare to look forward the the next episode, and encourage their friends to get the game so as to be caught up. The key here is to make sure you actually put the episodes out regularly.

I have an issue with this game (and other using videos), on my 3GS, the video has some problem playing. Pixelated on the bottom, etc

    Any ideas ?

I can only assume that the game has not been updated to be fully compatible with the 3.0 Software.
