The classic that single handedly sold a crap-load of PS2′s is coming to iPhone 4S and iPad 2…
To celebrate GTA 3′s 10th anniversary, Rockstar have announce that the classic sandbox title will be coming to iPhone 4S and iPad 2 later this autumn. After many imitators, such as Gameloft’s Gangstar series, the oringial and perhaps still the best GTA game will soon be gracing the AppStore. It’s not the first GTA title to be released on iOS of course. GTA: China Town Wars was ported over from the DS, with great success. But while I absolutely loved that game, I can’t help but feel giddy at the thought of speeding around Liberty city in the more realistic 3rd person style. Let’s hope it gets a bit of a makeover though, as looking back at GTA 3 on PS2, it was a bit of a graphical mess, with many instances of popup and geometry tearing. With the game being released only on the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 we can assume it should at least be up there with the Xbox or PC versions. We’ll have more on GTA 3 as it hits.

UPDATE: A video of the game being played on iPad surfaces on Youtube. It looks to be implementing the same control scheme as China Town Wars.
