Developer Quin Genzel has created an innovative new game called R.I.P. In it you play a ghost who roams a graveyard, your aim is to return to your grave.
The innovation comes from the way you look around the 3D environment. Much like a VR headset, your viewpoint changes in relation to your iphones position… aim the phone downwards and you’ll look at the ground… aim up and you’ll look at the sky, etc, etc. Movement is touch based, but this is where the game falls down, as the controls are a little clunky, a small d-pad woul dbe preferable. It’s a shame too, as it’s a good idea.
Right now it feels more like a demo… I’d to see this developed further and see an option that allows full VR style controls so that when you spin around on the spot you’ll turn in the game world and even some location based features implemented.
If you fancy yourself as a ghost, you can pick up the game here for $1.99

FROM THE DEVELOPER:
FYI, improvements in control, graphics, sound and game speed have been made since this review was done. Also, now it is available for only US$0.99.
In addition, a new game, based on the same 3D technology, environment and control method as R.I.P., has been developed and launched on the App Store. GHOST BUDDY casts you as a human who tries to help lost ghosts find their graves, first by chasing down and capturing them, then by locating their matching, named graves. In the process, you must avoid or defend yourself against the evil red ghosts. Game play is fast and exciting, and progresses through harder and harder levels with more ghosts (both good and bad), faster speeds, and thicker fog. It’s really quite challenging and addictive!
