Because mice should play saxophones.

Wacky was a great word to use in describing this mini golf game from Glu Mobile. However, I’m thinking bizarre may have fit it a bit better - in a good way though.

The first thing that jumped out to me in this game is the crisp colorful visuals. The screenshots honestly do not do the game justice at all. There’s a kind of mild cel shading to the 3D engine that just works. Rendering the world in full 3D really helps advance this game past the multitude of sprite-based mini-golf games out there.

mini-golf-cheeseThere are four worlds to play golf on, and the two that we saw were equally creative. The cheese world was by far the weirdest, but also the most detailed. The background had lots going on, from animals to cheese rivers. The sky world has holes that take place on different islands in the sky. Glu mentioned that there would be animations for getting from one island to the next, and that these kinds of scenes would be used in other worlds as well.

The game uses very simple controls, and seems to be a very creative casual mini-golf experience. Unfortunately, since the game isn’t planned to be released until around July, we didn’t get to see a lot more of the game, but I’m anxious to see how it turns. Expect more coverage in a couple months.
