GDC: TNA Wrestling Hands On [video]

Wrestling gets meatier on the iPad.

reviewed the first TNA title on the iPhone a while ago, and fell in love with it in spite of myself. I’m not a “wrestling” fan by any means, but the hilarious one-liners, throw back graphics, and intuitive combo system pulled me right in. TNA (Total Nonstop Action) Wrestling Impact is bringing the series to those people who are into meatier (lol) console wrestling games.

All of the characters in the show will be making appearances (you can see Hulk Hogan in the video below!). You’ll get involved in the usual behind-the-scenes drama between wrestlers, this time revolving around your customized character, much like the original game. You can customize everything from your appearance, to fighting style, to special finishing moves. The action of the game feels like a polished console title rather than a mobile app, and the graphics prove the same. Unfortunately, I’m waiting on more data, so I’m not sure if there is multiplayer at launch or not.

The dev talks more about the game as he plays it in the video below:

I should have grabbed TNA Wrestling when I had the chance. It looks like it has been pulled off the App Store. Let me know if I am wrong!

The gameplay reminds me of the old No Mercy game on the N64, classic wrestling game

I’ll be honest, I have no idea where TNA Wrestling went. It’s still listed on the developers website, but it’s not available on the US, UK, or AUS stores. :/ Suck!

smackdown vs raw was pulled as well after a few days of release as well :-(

Smackdown had a very poor execution, the best wrestling game on any portable device was the Fire Pro Wrestling Series.
