GDC: Galaxy on Fire: Valkyrie Hands On [video]

Now with 50% more galaxies, and 50% more fire!

I’m pretty sure the people who haven’t played the original Galaxy on Fire, or the sequel, Galaxy on Fire 2, are in the minority for hardcore iOS gamers. Sadly, I’m in that minority. It has nothing to do with the game itself, as the GoF series has been universally lauded as the best of it’s kind on the app store, and has raised the bar for graphic engines on mobile devices quite high. I think I’ve simply been intimidated by what a beast of a game it is. The original and sequels packed in an amazing amount of story and gameplay, and it seems like something I would get extremely wrapped up in. I suppose I’ll have to conquer my fear of playing amazing games, and jump on board, because the Valkyrie add-on looks fantastic.

I’m not going to pretend I know anything about the original GoF games, so I’m going to let the video below do most of the talking until I can more information. What I do know is that Valkerie will be a standalone update that extends the story from Galaxy on Fire 2. It will sell for no more than $5 on April 28th, and will feature new content that’s equivalent to about 50% of the most recent GoF game. The graphics engine has also received a new update, and there will be new ships, weapons, and upgrades, as seen below.

Those missiles are good to dodge asteroids :) I’m thinking of equipping one of those huge cargo ships with an auto-torret and mines.

Could be nice if Fishlabs could include some sort of technology tree or a full list of ships available

I would love to see GOF2 drop in price. I still haven’t picked that one up.
