Kevin Runion has released a promising First Person Shooter tech demo for the iPhone. Called 3DWorld For Free, the demo renders an impressive 3D environment with good textures and lighting effects. The controls are set up as dual analogue, and for a demo they work pretty well. The left stick for forward motion and the right stick for look/turn. There isn’t much to do right now, apart from wonder around, but let’s hope this engine gets used for a full game some day.
Check it out here.

From the appstore:
“There is another developer listing this application as a paid application.all they have done is taken the unity demo and submitted it.here it is for free”.
The other version is sold 0.99$
That maybe an interesting story would you consider investigate it?

Well, Im actually quite disappointed by this demo… There’s no dynamic lighting, no dynamic shadow, no per-pixel lightning and its made with a “generic” game engine… not necessarily optimized for FPS…
There’s absolutely no technological advancement in this demo… I think we are still really far from having a competitive FPS technology for iPhone and iPod touch…
Anybody who knows how to model a bit and bake some shadow map could have done the same thing as in this demo.
We are not even on the level of Quake3 here… at least Quake3 at some quite interesting technological advancement for their time…
Honestly anybody who read this thread can do the same thing and for free using Blender and SIO2.

Hi, there is a game that is available for the ipodtouch/iphone that has support for multiplayer. It is called cube (yes it is a port of Cube), also i very highly recommend the game Sauerbraten (the same unmodded engine) for windows, mac, and linux.
