Firemint today announced that Flight Control, its massively popular game for iPhone and iPod touch, has landed over 2 million sales in just over 10 months.
The game was released on 5 March 2009, and reached 1 million sales in three months, making it one of the outstanding App Store success stories. The 2 million milestone was reached yesterday, and equates to average sales of around 6,000 a day. Peak sales were over 30,000 per day during 28 and 29 March last year, with another recent peak of over 20,000 on Christmas Day.
When looking at the source of their sales, the top 15 countries accounted for about 96% of sales, with the United States contributing 46% (Just shy of 1 million) and the UK following up the rear with well over a quarter of a million.
Flight Control has stuck around in the Top 100 paid apps charts around the world, and has held the coveted number 1 position in at least 20 countries including here in the UK, and the USA, Australia, Germany, France, Canada and Japan. No wonder there are a ton of copy cats out there!
Nice one guys, this round’s on you!
