EA wants to turn your iPad into a game console for the love of football!
Just a month ago at E3 we got our hands on sweet iPhone controller concept tech to be used with FIFA 12 on an iPad. At that time, we played FIFA 11, but today we got to play an updated version of the iPhone controller technology on a very early build of FIFA 12! Aside from a heated exchange of trash talking with the EA rep, we weren’t able to get many other details about the game. What we do know is FIFA 12 is set for a Fall release, and that there is plenty of development and tweaking to be done before the final build is ready.
Based on what I saw at the event, I’m guessing EA will be integrating it’s shiny new “Origin” multiplayer platform with FIFA 12 in some way or another. I hope so, because by then iOS 5.0 will be out, and those with an Apple TV will be able to wirelessly stream iPad video to their HDTV. Using an iPhone as a controller and the iPad as a console to play some competitive football online on your TV while your at home is a nice thought. It was very obvious that FIFA 12 looked much better on the iPad than it did on the TV. It would be cool to see the game optimized for HDTVs, considering a huge draw of the game will be playing it on one. TVs aside, you will still be able to play with a friend using the more-than-capable iPad screen on the go.
We’ll keep you updated as details emerge. Until then, check out the first gameplay video of FIFA 12 in action below!
