Fast Five – hands-on video

Gameplay video of Gameloft’s Fast Five the Movie: Official Game coming April 28th.

Based on the official film of the same name (from the Fast and the Furious series of movies). You play as Brian O’Conner on the wrong side of the law and assemble an elite team of top racers and battle opponents in this racing game that follows the movie storyline.

After playing through the campaign mode I can say that it is a surprisingly polished game. Especially for a movie tie-in (they generally suck!). On iPhone 4 it’s actually one of the best looking racers out there, with high quality textures, models and great lighting and shadows. The reflections on the cars are a particular highlight.

Gameplay is a mix between Burnout and Disney’s Split Second. So basically you race other cars and attempt to take them out in order to win, all the while avoiding the tracks scenery crashing down on you. A rewind feature much like Burnout lets you wind back to before an accident so you can correct yourself.

We’ll have a full review for you later this week, but in the meantime check out our gameplay video of a 2 lap quick race in action. (iPhone version recorded in 2x on an iPad 2 over HDMI)

Look out for the game hitting your shores in the next few hours for £2.99 ($4.99)

Being a dynamic MMORPG I can understand a review can be difficult, but I’m surprised that Touchgen hasn’t commented on the release of Order & Chaos yet. Unless I’ve missed it. Yes it may be a copycat of WoW, but the scope of the game is really is really quite noteworthy for an iOS game.
