Beating up your friends, family, boss, coworkers, celebrities, etc, etc has never been more fun!
FaceFighter is one of those games that seems extremely gimmicky, and turns out to be extremely hilarious and fun. Appy, the guys behind AppyNews, are putting their facial integration technology to good use with this game, which lets you fight against anyone who you can find a picture of (online or elsewhere), or take a picture of with your iPhone camera.
I’ll start with the best part of FaceFighter… adding faces! The setup is extremely simple, and the game allows you to either take a picture of your opponent, or use a picture already on your phone. Since 3.0 lets you download images off the internet, the possibilities are endless, and quite hilarious. You line up
the face with the eyes and mouth, crop the head, then you fight!
The gameplay uses four on-screen buttons: left and right punch, kick, and block. If you time your block just right, you’ll get a free smack on your opponent. When you fill up your special meter, you can unleash a brutal monkey wrench attack on your opponent. As you beat them up, they’ll lose teeth, get black eyes, and other gruesome-but-funny facial disfigurements. You can also use a special ending attack, although at the moment I believe there is only one.
The game keeps track of score for all your fights, but there doesn’t appear to be an onlineĀ function. That’s really not a big deal, since the game is more about having fun that getting a high score. There are multiple difficulties if you want a challenge.
Presentation & Graphics

Slick interface makes it’s extremely easy to add faces. Graphics are fast and furious using a combination of animation and real video. It’s amazing how much your opponent becomes whoever’s face you entered.
Sound

Hilarious sound effects add to fun.
Gameplay

The most I’ve ever laughed during an iPhone game. Period. This game was a hit with every single person I showed it too, who all had an equally joyous response.
Gamelife

Since it’s more of a novelty game, and doesn’t follow an actual story, online leaderboards, or other features, it will probably only be played occasionally for a laugh with friends. Not a bad thing at all, as it will quite entertain, but you won’t be playing it a whole lot on your own.
Game Rating - EDITOR’S CHOICE

Appy’s FaceFighter is slick, fun, and most of all hilarious. For only 99 cents, I would recommend it to everyone, as I can’t imagine someone picking this game up and not being completely entertained. Who would have thought beating up your little sister, a famous celebrity, or yourself could be so much fun?
