At our mixer last night we got a hands on with IUGO’s upcoming turn based strategy game Starhogs. Describe as a ‘Worms in space’. The game takes place in planetary orbit, and sees you exchanging blows with enemy ships. It includes 32 levels in campaign mode, as well as a quick play mode for instant action.
Unlike worms, you can shoot more than once per turn until you use up your energy bar. Each weapon uses a different amount of power, so you need to be strategic if you you want to deal the most damage in a turn.
Graphically the game looks really cool, you can fully customise your ships with a large amount of weapons and upgrades. The HUD is also very nice with great usability. While sound effects are good, we were’nt entirely convinced with the hard Rock sound track playing in the background, but i guess that can be turned off.
The screenshots don’t do the game justice, it looks a lot better in motion. Check out the video below.
