E3: Space Miner Blast hands on

This day on the show floor, Venan Entertainment gave us a hands on with Space Miner Blast. This new title is an upcoming spinoff of the popular and well-reviewed Space Miner: Space Ore Bust.  Space Miner blast removes the story and RPG elements of the original, and turns it into an endless, wave-based shooter. Players will still be able to upgrade their ships, but rather than picking specific gear one gets to choose a category (strength, speed, etc.) to improve in their ship after after a certain amount of waves. Venan has added some new graphical effects, and changed the blast wave to a weapon that can be used more frequently. The way the game handles, looks and plays is the same as Space Miner: Space Ore Bust.

Perhaps the most interesting news about Space Miner Blast is that it will be free. Venan plans for the game to be supported by iAds, and any ads included will not appear during gameplay sequences. The game will feature extra ships purchasable in-game, and as an added bonus by purchasing a ship all ads will be removed from the game.

Expect to see Space Miner Blast for iPhone and iPad near the end of July, and check back at Touchgen for further coverage.
