As well as recently releasing Zenonia 3 and Baseball Superstars 2, Gamevil will soon release their new budget title, Skipping Stone.
Brought to iOS by popular demand, Skipping Stone was a popular title for Gamevil back on older handsets – at one stage winning an IGN mobile game of the year award – but now they’ve rebuilt it from the ground up for iOS. The game requires only a single finger to play, with the object of the game being to keep your skipping stone bouncing on the sea by timing your taps just as the stone reaches the water. A shadow of the stone acts as a guide, and so if you successfully tap at the right time your stone will jump higher. Fail, or time it wrong, and your stone will drop lower or sink completely.
Various sea creatures can help or hinder you along the way. Carp will suck on to your stone, weighing it down, while a whale on the other hand will blast your up higher with its blow hole.
The gameplay is survival based, playing as a continuous level across Island, City Jungle and Magical themed worlds. Your score can be shared online with friends, as well as 39 achievements to unlock through Game Center.
Amongst all the deeper games we experienced at E3, Skipping Stone was refreshingly simple and I can see it appealing to those that love games like Tiny Wings.
