We met up with Jung Suh of Red Rocket Games today, and got some hands on time with two of their games. One of these was Little Runner, a doodle style platformer where you must keep a little alien dude from coming to a stop. He just wants to keep on running!
Controls are super easy, with you simply flicking platforms up or down in order to keep him running across an even platform. If you are too slow, he’ll either fall or smack straight into a platform section.
Apart from the great art-style and simple gameplay, the thing that struck us was the music. Jung sees music as in important factor in all Red Rockets games. With the iPhone and iPod touch being so music centric, it makes sense for it to play a huge part. As you progress through the level the music changes, so while the first level starts of slow with almost chill-out style beats, as the game speeds up then the music changes with more up beat techno style tunes. Levels seemlessly merge into the next, with the object of the game to get as far as possible before your lives run out. High Scores are then available online for you to brag with friends. The game will be available in a couple of weeks for $0.99
The game will also be part of a trilogy of games, with Rider and Climber coming along later. We didn’t see Climber but it was described to us as a game where you playas a monster/alien, where you must climb buildings from around the world, while avoiding characters throwing stuff out of windows at you. The aim is to get to the top and eat the enemies and poop them out. Sound like our kinda game!

The game is awesome. The art is so good that I don’t actually mind losing because I like to see the animation of my runner crying. Does that make me twisted? Ha ha.
