Who doesn’t love a relaxing round of golf – on your phone?
Let’s Golf 3, by Gameloft, is the latest installment in this series of quirky, easy to play golfing games. This version takes a lot from the previous Let’s Golf title’s, and has the same overall look and feel. The graphics use the same cute, cartoony characters and environment, but everything does look quite a bit more polished. The sound in the game also fits the overall feel, with happy, calm music, light breezes, and calm waves washing up along the shore. Birds are even chirping in the background to let you know how happy they are that you’re playing the game…
The gameplay is simple enough that anyone could pick the game up and get going with relative ease. Line up your shot, check the map in your upper right corner, and tap the golf ball button. A power meter pops up, letting you know when to tap the screen twice for maximum power. Without much effort one could stay on par for many of the courses. The game determines how many holes you can play each day based on your energy. Once you run out of energy, you have to wait until it regenerates to play through any additional holes. In order to upgrade your energy, you must level up, by completing holes and gaining skill. Leveling up is relatively fast in the game, and also lets you put points into several stats, such as the power of your drives, and putting accuracy.
As well as choosing where you want to allot stats, there is a lot of customization you can do to your character. You can change many of their physical attributes and purchase different clothes and clubs. These clothes and various items also add to your performance stats, so there is reason to buy them beyond pure aesthetics.
