Summoning UFOs to abduct enemy soldiers has never been this easy – or fun.
I got my fingers on this new defense game by BulkyPix, the creators of massively addictive games such as Pix’n'Love Rush and Burn it All. Hills of Glory: WW II follows in the footsteps of Babel Rising, as a dynamic vertical tower defense game using gesture based touch controls.
Hills of Glory: WWII allows you to choose from 16 heroes, all with unique skills and abilities. During each stage you choose three heroes to help you fend off the hordes of enemy soldiers. Each hero can be leveled up throughout the course of the game, to increase the power, range or area of effect of their special abilities. They all have very unique skills, ranging from single shot machine gun rounds, mortar strikes, land mines, tesla coils, helicopter gunners, and even ultimate abilities like a nuke. The vast selection of playable heroes and abilities allows each player to play the game a different way, and greatly adds the the replay value.
The combat is completely gesture based, and easily mastered after a few minutes of testing things out. You get six abilities (two from each hero) that are shown at the top of your screen, each of which are mapped to a specific gesture. There’s the tap, horizontal swipe, vertical swipe, touch and hold, pinch, and two finger swipe. Once you get the hang of which attack will be used, you’ll plow right through hundreds upon hundreds of enemies.
As is almost mandatory at this point with games, there will be a plethora of unlockable achievements via both OpenFeint and Game Center. This will definitely add to the addictive gameplay, as you compare your highest kill scores to your friends, and players all over the world.
Hills of Glory is a hilariously animated game with lots of attention to the little details. Look for it near the end of June at the incredible price of .99 cents. For general gameplay footage, check out the short video below.
