A few months back I reviewed GameLoft’s Guitar Rock Tour, and I was fairly impressed with it, giving it a 3.5. Today we had to oportunity to sit down with GameLoft and take a look at the sequal.
In all honesty, the game looked very good, but it doesn’t really seem like they changed much from the first one at all. They did lower the price slightly, it will now be selling for $5.99. I think the $9.99 price point of the first game kept a lot of people who would have otherwise loved the game, from playing it.
The game features Guitar and Drums just like the last one, and I found Guitars to be a lot more fun. The guitar features 4 notes coming down the screen and you tap them in time; the drums only have 2 notes, so I found it to be a little less challenging and therefore, less enjoyable.
All 19 songs in the game are still covers, just like the first one, and in my review of the first one I knocked the game for having pretty poor covers, due to the setting of where we were playing the game I was unable to get a good feel on the quality of the covers, but I hope they have improved some from the last game.
The game still looks very good visually, and playing the actual songs is very solid, and challenging on the hardest difficulty.
I would watch for Guitar Rock Tour 2 if you like music games, as it is shaping up to be a very solid experience. Keep your eyes here for the review when the game drops in late June. Check below for screens and a video.
