We sat down with Chillingo today to play some of their upcoming games, and one of those was Cut the Rope…
UPDATE: Read our review here.
A strange creature has been delivered to your door in a cardboard box, and it’s up to you to feed it candy. The candy hangs from the inside of the box by thin rope, and just as the title implies, you must cut the rope to send the candy falling into the creatures mouth. Of course this isn’t as easy as it seems. Early levels are simple tasks of a few cuts here and there and then letting gravity do its bit, but later levels add multiple ropes to cut, hazards and obstacles as well as new tools to help you. I particularly like the air pumps complete with fart noise as they expel air to influence the route of your candy whether its attached to a swinging rope or floating in a bubble.
Each level is over once the creature called Om Nom (named after the sound it makes when it easts) gets its candy, but to make things more challenging there are three stars that can be collected. Many levels can be completed in various ways but only one solution will allow you to collect all the stars and get the candy to Om Nom.
The game comes with four level packs, each containing 25 levels and requiring a set number of stars before they can be unlocked. More levels are promised through an update and no doubt require purchased in-app.
The game is due to hit the AppStore this Thursday for $0.99 for the iPhone version. Could this be the next Angry Birds? Tune in to the site to find out in my review.
