With little fanfare, TAITO have released Cooking Mama on the iPhone. The game, made popular on the DS and it’s bigger brother the Wii and enjoyed by the more casual of gamers, sees you creating certain meals by chopping veg, slice meat, flip food in pans, and arrange the final items on the plate. The DS version was good at replicating the slicing moves with the stylus, whereas the Wii version was best at the pan flipping moves. So with the iPhone being both a touch and accelerometer device, it will be interesting to see how TAITO used its features best. Stay tuned for our thoughts.

At $6.99 it’s unclear how much of the DS and Wii content this iPhone edition will contain, but the official decription says that itĀ features a generous helping of dishes from the home console series as well as plenty of never-before-seen cuisine. If it is a full fledged game and not limited in any way, then the price tag is a good deal.
