When a random video of Tony Hawk 2 being played on the iPhone was released a few weeks ago, it was met with a lot of skeptisism. This was with good reason, as a fully functioning port of the original Tony Hawk: Pro Skater 2 game fits well into the “too good to be true” category of iPhone games. It also seems like a game that would be difficult to pull off on the iPhone.

Now with video and looking better than ever! There have been quite a few mini golf games out for the iPhone. I can guarantee you haven’t seen one as stylish and rich as Wacky Worlds Mini Golf from Glu. We were impressed with this title in the early stages of development during GDC, but the current build is looking even better. The colorful 3D visuals have an almost cell-shaded look, and each hole in the various world courses brings something different.

We met up with Jung Suh of Red Rocket Games today, and got some hands on time with two of their games. One of these was Little Runner a doodle style platformer where you must keep a little alien dude from coming to a stop. He just wants to keep on running!

At our mixer last night we got a hands on with IUGO’s upcoming turn based strategy game Starhogs. Describe as a ‘Worms in space’. The game takes place in planetary orbit, and sees you exchanging blows with enemy ships. It includes 32 levels in campaign mode, as well as a quick play mode for instant action.

The third game in Gamelofts lineup showed to us today was DJ Mix Tour, a rhythm game along the same lines of Guitar Hero and Gamloft’s own Guitar Rock Tour. Except in this game, as the name suggests, you play as a DJ and must keep the dancers on the dancefloor entertained. In usual music game fair you must tap the notes as they come into view, except this time you are tapping the spinning vinyl itself.

If there’s one thing I love about the iPhone gaming community, it’s seeing young amateur game developers create quality games. Josh is one of these developers. At only 17, he showed up at our iPhone mixer last night and impressed quite a few of us with his Star Fox-esque jet fighting game. Bare in mind that we saw the first public build of the game, so everything is Alpha.

At the Gameloft hands on today we boarded their gaming bus, parked outside E3. One of the games on show was a new platformer called Castle of magic. It reminded me of Super Mario for DS, and that’s a good thing. The environments look great, and the lead character actually has, well… Character! As apposed to the generic looks of many iPhone platformers.

[More...] I just got done playing Real Tennis by Gameloft, and I can tell you that it looks fantastic. The game is much more detailed than previous tennis games on the iPhone, with very fluid movements and animations. The game features 7 different stadiums with 3 different play fields (clay, grass, and synthetic), all modeled after real arenas. The type of field will actually impact gameplay.

Hey folks! We’re done with our first day of E3, and dang if we were wowed and impressed with a lot of what we saw. Command and Conquer, the Sims 3, Tony Hawk 2, and Dexter to name a few. But more importantly this is our first podcast with all 4 of us together in the same room! That’s right, Nacho, Matt, Dave, and Nigel are all together. Thongs for everyone!

It may not seem like such a huge deal, but CTA Digital showed up at our developer part tonight and wowed us with a great new peripheral for the iPhone. This product is so new, that we were among the first to see it in wild. The units they were demoing were the originals! You can see from the screens below that it fits the iPhone snugly, and comes with attachments to fit the iPod Touch as well.
