Swedish developers Simogo today shared with us an early build of their upcoming game Bumpy Road, coming soon to iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
The game features a couple in their old motor car, on a unlimited road trip down memory lane. You must guide them across platforms and over water hazards, all the while picking up memories of their family.
The control method for this game is pretty unique. The couple and their car continually moves forward, albeit at a snails pace. However, you can directly influence the ground on which they travel by tapping it. This causes bumps in the road, and if use correctly can move the car forward (right) or back (left) at a faster rate. Not only that, but tapping directly below the car will make it jump, allowing you to reach platforms and collectibles above you. It works beautifully, and coupled with the visuals and sound, makes the ground that the couple are traveling on feel like a continuous xylophone.
Much like games of this type, the level is randomly generated and unlimited, so the object is to survive as long as you can. Obstacles are there to both hinder and help you, such as springs and switches to help you reach platforms or create new ones, and water pits that, if you don’t clear, will end your game
Bumpy Road is shaping up nicely and I can see it joining the likes of Doodle jump and Tiny Wings as an instant classic. Check out video of the game in action below:
