Beyzacases converted me to a strong believer in pouches for my iPhone 4 with their excellent ID Slim. Now they present their brand new series: Zero. Zero Series is all about slim zero bulk design.
The Zero Series for iPhone 4 is made from two pieces of high grade leather sewn together along the sides. Thin leather guarantees the slim fit needed, but also means that the pouch is less rigid. It doesn’t fold or bend when empty due to the small size. For protection the Zero is ok for impact protection, and excellent for scratch protection. The area left unprotected is the top of the phone that sticks out slightly above the edges of the pouch. I think this might be because I am trying it out with the slightly fatter white iPhone 4, and thus the black model should be better protected.
It is easy to insert the phone in the pouch by simply pushing it in. Extracting can be done by either grabbing it on either side at the top, or by pushing it out using the open bottom. It takes some fiddling and turning, but the phone can be extracted with one hand.
The large cut-out opening at the bottom gives an easy way to eject the phone. It also gives you the chance to charge the phone inside the case. It is just wide enough to use the standard Apple charge/sync cable. What it does lack however are cut-outs for the speakers at the bottom.
There are some really cool stitches along the upper and lower hole. Two race stripe stitches also go from top to bottom on the front. These add a youthful flair to the case. To me it looks like the stripes are slightly lopsided on my demo unit, and the stripes are slightly leaning to the left.
Branding is subdued with some horns indented in the leather on the lower right front. The brand name is also found in print on the back. Subtle, but important to show the name of quality brands.
Finally I have to mention the soft velvet type lining that keeps the screen fresh. It has the same colour as the seams, and it looks great as a unit.
The Zero Series for the iPhone 4 is a truly slim pouch that has a lot of flair. Perhaps not the greatest at protecting the device from impact damage, but hey it is meant to be thin. Great workmanship paired with great materials makes it an easy product to recommend.
