BeyzaCases Slim Vertical Case 3G/3GS review

Leather so soft that it feels like the cow had spent it’s days brushing and keeping it in shape. The pouch I have in front of me is a pleasure to have in my hand, and a joy to behold for the eye. As pouches go it doesn’t offer much innovation, but instead focuses on getting a proven design to be as high quality as possible.

BeyzaCases is one of the largest European manufacturers of leather cases for the iPhone and other portable devices. Based in Turkey the company has been in the business of creating iPhone cases since the first generation of iPhone surfaced. I had not heard of them until I found some of their cases at MyGearStore.com.

The Slim Vertical Case is a pouch where you store your iPhone. The only available button is the hold/silent at the top, and the mute switch. You also have access to the headphone socket, and sim card tray. All basic pouch stuff. What some pouches miss is the fact that you won’t hear the phone when there are no holes for the sound to escape the pouch. This pouch has got four holes to let you hear the ringer, and listen to music when the iPhone is encased.

The case hugs the iPhone tightly enough to not let it fall out even when I try to shake it out. It isn’t impossible to get it out with one hand either, and it doesn’t press on the volume controls by itself. Of course you might actually accidentally press the volume controls or change the mute switch when you are taking the iPhone out of the pouch.

With a soft lining on the inside that doesn’t leave any marks on the screen the pouch offers good protection. It is rigid, with two layers of leather that can take a moderate impact from a fall. The top of the case is open, but still protects the iPhone by the front and back lip sticking up about 3 millimetres above the iPhone.

The quality of the leather, and workmanship of the sewing makes this a long time companion. I can’t see any wear on any seem after a week of tossing it around. The metal logotype on the front looks a bit different from batch to batch, but all look cool. The logo looks like a cow-horns, and there is an extra piece of leather making sure it can’t damage the screen.

Not presenting anything new or innovative.
Accidental volume increases when taking the iPhone out are frequent.

As pouches go the BeyzaCases Slim Vertical Case(pouch) is a great choice. With exquisite leather softer than a baby’s bottom it is a great companion. It protects the iPhone well, and looks great on any coffee table. Definitely recommended, but as BeyzaCases also sells a version with a strap to get the iPhone out at €5 more I would definitely go for the strapped one called Strap Slim Vertical.
