BeyzaCases BookType Case 3G/3GS review

The BeyzaCases BookType Case is the second case I test from this company from Turkey, and the second side flap wallet case I try. The BookType Case lets you have up to three credit cards in the three slots found inside the front flap. The first slot is meshed, and the card inserted can be partially seen. This is not enough to identify yourself using an id or driver’s license in the slot. It still needs to be taken out of the case. With three cards inserted they are still quite easy to extract. There is no risk to them falling out by themselves though. As a wallet it works quite well, but it fails miserably at being a good iPhone case in one key aspect. There is leather across the home button, and it is quite loose. When I put the iPhone in my pocket the case presses the home button. This brings out Voice Command, and disturbs my music when headphones are connected. Without headphones it keeps lighting up the screen instead draining the battery unnecessary. To me this made the case more or less unusable as I tend to put the iPhone in a pocket. If you always carry your iPhone or wear it in a roomy bag this will not bother you.

You can get the case in a eight different colour and material combinations. The one I have tried has got khaki canvas exterior, and tan leather interior. The stitching is perfectly executed, and I enjoy the yellow threads against the tan leather. Another really positive aspect to the design is that you close it with a button that is located on the side of the case. This lets the case rest flatly on either back or front.

When the case is snapped shut it protects the iPhone completely from impact damage. As the corners of the phones are bare those are left exposed to scratches from keys and other objects if carried in a bag or large pocket. If you have credit cards inserted this further helps reinforcing the case against impact.

specUsing the iPhone in the case works really well as the case doesn’t intrude too much on the screen. The home button feels a bit mushy because of the loose leather above it. Overall the leather around the screen could have been a tad tighter. When playing games the flap is a bit of a nuisance. It can be folded to the back with ease, but then there is more to hold on to when playing. It can even be snapped closed backwards if that is ever needed. For the avid gamer it is better to take the iPhone out to play properly. For ordinary uses such as calling, texting and emailing it works with the iPhone in the case.

Summary

bz07431-front-tanPros

Works well as a 3-card wallet.
Great materials well put together.
A great accessory when out and about.
Full everyday functionality when using it.

Cons
The leather around the screen is a bit too loose.
The home button is involuntarily pressed when iPhone is carried in a tight pocket either starting Voice Command or just draining the battery quicker.
Hard to play games with the case.
Not dockable.

Initially I thought the case was really great, but that was before I used it around town. Having the Voice Command constantly starting, or seeing the screen going on all the time in my pocket is a real problem. It is a shame as the rest of the case works well as a wallet, protects the phone well and is crafted with a great attention to detail. Recommended to those looking for a wallet iPhone case to be worn in a bag.
